To place a baseball bet, provide the ticket writer with the team’s betting number and the amount you want to wager. If your chosen team wins, you receive a payout based on the posted odds, which are displayed using a “Money Line.”
Odds are presented in terms of $1. A “minus” (-) before the number means the team is favored to win, while a “plus” (+) indicates the team is an underdog.
Example: The listed pitcher is the starting pitcher.
Bet # | Team | Pitcher | Odds | Total | Money Line |
301 | Giants | Saito | +110 | 7.5 | Over -110 |
302 | Hitters | Kenji | -120 | Under -110 |
Note: The bottom team listed is always the home team unless specified otherwise.
The Hitters have odds of -120, meaning a $12 bet would win $10, for a total return of $22. The Giants have odds of +110, meaning a $10 bet would win $11, for a total return of $21.
Money Lines are subject to change frequently. The Money Line shown at the time of your bet may differ from the line when the game begins. The odds printed on your ticket are your official odds, unless there is a change in the starting pitcher.
For betting purposes, baseball Money Line wagers are considered official after five complete innings, or four and a half innings if the home team is ahead. For Money Line bets, the team only needs to win the game.
Total: This refers to the total number of runs scored in a game, also known as the Over/Under.
You can bet on whether the total score will be higher or lower than the number listed, regardless of which team wins. To calculate, add the final scores of both teams. The payout, unless otherwise stated, is based on odds of 10/11 (-110).
Note: When betting on totals, the following rules apply:
a. The game must last nine innings, or 8 1/2 innings if the home team is leading.
b. Both listed pitchers must start the game.
If either condition is not met, the bet is refunded.
All runs scored in extra innings count toward Over/Under bets.
Baseball Run Lines: The run line is a point spread of 1.5 runs applied to a baseball game.
For a bet on the favorite to win, they must win by 2 runs or more. For a bet on the underdog to win, they must either:
a. Win the game outright, or
b. Lose by no more than one run.
The payout will depend on the Money Line odds associated with each possible outcome.
Bet # | Team | Pitcher | Money Line | Total | Odds | Run Line | Odds |
301 | Giants | Saito | +110 | 7.5 | Ov -180 | +1.5 | -180 |
302 | Hitters | Kenji | -120 | Un -110 | -1.5 | +160 |
For the Hitters to win the bet, they must win by at least 2 runs. A $10 bet would result in a $16 win, for a total return of $26. For the Giants, they must lose by no more than 2 runs; an $18 bet would win $10, for a total return of $28.
Note: The same rules for run line bets apply as they do for totals:
a. The game must last nine innings, or 8 1/2 innings if the home team is leading.
b. Both listed pitchers must start the game.
If either condition isn’t met, the bet is refunded.
First Five Inning Wagers: You can place a bet on the outcome of the first five innings only.
a. Five full innings must be played for the wager to stand.
b. Both starting pitchers must throw at least one pitch.
Baseball Parlays: You can combine multiple teams into one bet, and all teams must win for the parlay to win. Baseball parlays are calculated by determining the payout for the first game based on the Money Line, then using that amount for the next game, and so on. If a game is postponed, the parlay is reduced by one team and treated as if the postponed game was never part of the parlay.
Listed Pitcher(s) Option: When placing a baseball bet, you are betting team versus team, with the option to specify that either or both listed pitchers must start the game. You can choose to require both starting pitchers or just one to start. A starting pitcher is defined as the pitcher who throws the first pitch in his team’s half of the first inning.
Because baseball odds are based on the starting pitchers, any late changes to the pitchers may lead to an adjustment in the odds, affecting the payout of a winning ticket. However, if you specify starting pitchers and your chosen pitcher does not start, the bet is refunded.
Props: Unique or special wagers may be offered occasionally. For proposition bets, the game must go 9 innings (or 8 ½ innings if the home team is leading) for the bet to stand. However, if the outcome of the wager is already determined, the bet stands, unless otherwise specified. If a game is suspended after 9 innings (or 8 ½ innings if the home team is ahead), the final score is considered as of the last completed inning. If the home team ties or takes the lead in the bottom of the inning, the final score is determined at the point when the game is called.
